And then it was over…

After Tijuana the team made one last short ride to our final hosts, staying at the crazy funky space of the Existence Church in Miramar, north of downtown San Diego. With a couple of days to decompress, we managed to sneak in a couple more rocking dance parties and an amazing award ceremony orchestrated by Emilie, Bronwyn and Sonia that recognized every team member for one of their more unique attributes :) With the unavoidable sense that things were coming to a close, sadness was definitely ...

Tijuana and Los Ninos

No rest for the wicked! After completing an epic 6 weeks of cycling to reach the border, the team enjoyed a down day to digest and review the trip before heading in to Tijuana, Mexico to visit a great community based organization called Los Ninos. They have a small microcredit program among other grassroots community programs, and also focus really strongly on border issues, something the team has been discussing on the road and was confronted with directly on arrival at the border to see the ...

San Diego and the Border

WE MADE IT!!....read on for the details ;)

It was a beautiful sunny morning at Clemente State Park where we woke up for our second to last day of riding. The group was energized and thrilled to start the last leg. We took off in a huge group along a bike path to Oceanside. Father Mike, our host for two nights in San Diego, greeted us on his recumbent bike. He handed us maps ...

We made it!!

So things have been a little bit quiet on our end, BUT WE MADE IT! The team is alive and well, in San Diego prepping to head our separate ways in the next couple of days. Sorry for the lack of contact but internet access has been SPARSE, and we were in Tijuana for the last couple of days visiting a project. A few good wrap-up stories and lots of photos to come, we promise! Shawn

SANTA MONICA!

Written by Emma Banks We biked here! That is the most exciting thing to say when having a conversation with a local or someone from any city we visit. "blah, blah, blah... I rode my bicycle here from Canada!" To be met with a look of awe and surprise... It really will get the persons attention and is usually followed by a good conversation about microcredit, although sometimes it ends up being a conversation about sore muscles and the importance of a good bike seat! Yesterday I ...

July 4th!

Check out the following from Sonia on the groups adventures in San Luis Obispo for Independence Day. We were hosted by an amazing group at San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church. As a program unaffiliated with religion or the faith communities, it continually amazes us the support we are shown from phenomenal groups like this one! ~~~~~ Written by Sonial Paul 4th of July in San Luis Obispo Happy 4th of July! We had an off day today in SLO and the team woke up at around ...

Day 37 - Lompoc to Santa Barbara

Today we biked from Lompoc to Santa Barbara. The day started out super chilly and gloomy but ended up being extremely extremely hot. The first part of the day was rather uneventful besides Kelly’s face swelling for no reason and Vera finding a giant Mexican flag in the ditch which she carried along the way. Our lunch stop was at a beautiful beach about 20 miles from Santa Barbara. This was convenient because as the trip has progressed our ...
