European Tour – Budapest! (Written by Chris)

Sorry for the lack of updates, really it just came down to the fact that we were all having too much fun in Budapest. The 3 days of not riding was very much needed as it helped heal some of the riding wounds. Assuming wounds can heal if you don’t really sleep. Budapest is a lively town that doesn’t really like to sleep and we had very little problems fitting right in. We are all beginning to master the mid afternoon nap. It seems that ...

European Tour – Dinner with the Green Party in Stephensplatz & Hungary (Written by George & Gala)

Written by George - July 27  We have just left Vienna after having an incredible two days there. On our first morning,we met with Green Party officials from the 7th and 8th district in Stephensplatz for a photoshoot with local journalists and TV stations. Our friend in Vienna, Daniel, an IT journalists and speaker for the 8th District, was a huge help in getting the word out about our project. Riders were doing interviews with various radio stations throughout the day, talking about micro-credit and ...

European Tour – Day 24 Vienna & Bratislava (Written by Chris & Dave)

Written by Dave - July 24 Meet My New Friend Danny The Danube On a bicycle trip across Europe, there comes a point where experiences unfold faster than they can be absorbed. Here in Bratislava, where the gang pulled up to a back yard littered with fruit trees, decorated with heart-shaped balloons and laden with food, I have reached that point. Yesterday we were in Vienna at the UN headquarters, talking to Austrian national television and newspapers about microcredit and bike rides. Tomorrow morning we set ...

European Tour – Day 22 Vienna (Written by Chris)

The last few days have just by. It’s amazing how fast we went from barely knowing each other into our tight night family unit. I have caught a little flack from some people for making it seem like we are having too much fun. Well, I’m sorry, but we really are. When it comes down to it we are on this wild and crazy adventure that is totally different each day and there isn’t a group of people I’d rather be doing it with. Sure ...

European Tour – South Bohemia Day 18 (Written by Gala)

First let me say that yesterday morning I woke up on a couch in a kitchen on a farm with a little orange kitten asleep on my neck. And second, that option B’s sleep included an enourmous high-ceilinged attic inhabited by bats. (yee yeah!) Thirdly, let me begin this blog by stating, in order of appearance… …Rain rain rain rain RAIN rain rain rain rain RAIN cycle cycle cycle cycle… Not only have I surpassed my wildest expectations of kilometers cycled through unknown territory in such a ...

European Tour – Prague July 15th (Written by Chris)

Hello again world: recollections of repeated epic fails Today I will be broadcasting from the tempestuous Prague in the Czech Republic, and it has been a crazy last few days. I almost don’t know where to being so I’ll jump back to the start and work my way forward. The craziness all started on our ride into Zahna which is just east of Wittenberg in Germany. There seemed to be some sort of force out to get as that day as we had several flat tires, a ...

European Tour – Dresten & Czech Republic (Written by Emanuele July 13th)

So Dresden was nothing like I had read in New Europe, which describes it as modern and boring. It had some truly beautiful architecture, and the Elbe River bed made it somewhat look like Ottawa, as Jenika pointed out. This morning was our first very early morning (we had to be out of the gym we were staying at by 5:30am so they could clean it for morning classes) and the first day riding without having set accommodation. Getting up after a late night (read : ...

European Tour – July 8 (Written by Chris and Jenika)

Written by Chris July 8 - The Reality Check I’m am currently sitting in my tent Stassfurt Germany after riding another 100km day and I have to say this last day was my favorite day of the tour. I had fun start to finish riding today and my body felt great despite putting it through all the the rigors of the ‘pod rocketship’ yesterday. An interesting thing occurred today, we crossed into Eastern Germany. Now to me this means very little, as I was very little when ...
