Booth at SFU and thanks to Saltaire Restaurant!

The Agents at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, B.C. have been busy on campus volunteering at booth, informing students of the inspiring projects happening within Agents of Change. We talked with some students passing by about how they could apply for Riding to Break the Cycle 2008 and answered their questions about microcredit. In particular, thanks to the Oxfam guy who came by to chat about microcredit! We need more people like you engaged in our communities and making a positive impact.
A reminder that you can find the 2008 bike tour application on our home page and our first deadline for applying for the 2008 bike tour is November 15th. Submit your application as the tour is filling up FAST and there are only 25 spots available!

In addition to raising awareness about ride opportunities, “The Baggers” were out in full force selling their hemp shopping bags last as a project for the 2007 university Microcredit Challenge. Ashley Hunking, Stephen Chamberlain, and Nadir Bhanji are raising funds for microcredit initiatives in the developing world by selling hemp bags with Ashley’s own “cool” artwork, reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein’s paintings. Check out their bags and newly launched website, if you would like to place an order: www.coolbags.ca Proceeds will go towards SFU’s very own student run and managed microcredit fund.

Thanks to Jocelyn Wagner, Ashley Hunking, Stephen Chamberlain, and Charmaine Ho for dedicating a bit of their busy lives to participating in booth duty! Also thanks to Alex Lowes for making our prize draw happen!

Please come by the booth Thursday this week (November 15) for a chance to win a gift certificate to Saltaire! We are located in the Academic Quadrangle at SFU Burnaby campus. We’d like to recognize Saltaire Restaurant for their gift certificate donations. Saltaire offers a stylish upscale-casual West Coast atmosphere in which you can sample from fresh seafood, pastas, chops and wood oven fired pizzas, while enjoying beautiful ocean views!
