Finding Purpose: Awakened Once Again To Reality

With full time school and other volunteer commitments, there are moments when I feel burnt out from the hours and hours of work which I put into AOC. There are days when it seems as if I’m going through the motions of life without realizing why I am here on this earth doing what I’m doing. I go about my daily life sometimes forgetting that not everyone has access to food, health care, education, and all the basic things necessary to live life comfortably.

Then reality hits you in the face and once again you’re re-awakened, reminded, and inspired. Sometimes I see an amazing documentary or meet someone passionate striving to create a more equal, just society. I had one of these moments over the Christmas holidays. I watched a documentary called “Bad Medicine” on CBC’s The Correspondent. It revealed the underground counterfeit drug industry in Africa and other countries that have killed thousands. Imagine having a life-threatening disease and going to your pharmacist to get prescription ant-biotics not knowing it is just a placebo. This is a reality for many people internationally. It’s something we rarely think about. We are so privileged to have access to legitimate drugs, when others are left dying yet thinking they will be cured. How is this fair?

And if you know anything more about this situation, please get in touch or tell us what you’re doing.
