Momentum
Wow…what exactly have we set in motion here?!
Beginning with just two inspired people in October, Agents of Change has grown so incredibly quickly it’s overwhelming sometimes (most of the time?)! The energy set loose by putting a vision like this forward is testament enough to the power of what we’re trying to accomplish – socially engaged youth acting to change their world for the better, inspiring projects, and lasting impacts.
An incredible amount of energy and support is growing around this effort, and with an evergrowing team of dynamic youth and the ride approaching quickly it gets crazier by the day! A massive thank you on behalf of the organization to all the people volunteering hours, donating funds, or assisting us with planning – there are a remarkable number of people contributing to this effort all over the continent (and beyond) and every one of them integral to our success.
You’ll be hearing from many of the agents through this blog, and hopefully this will be a spot where you can follow the ups (and maybe even downs) of taking on such an undertaking. In the meantime:
A quick update from AOC!
- We have bikes! Everyone is getting custom fit-out for bikes this weekend, time to train! Thanks HEAPS to Ilan Handelsman and Bikes on the Drive in Vancouver!
- We have gear! Outerwear, jackets, logo’d ride shirts and more for the whole crew from our new friends STORMTECH
- Our logistics committee is in full swing planning out the nuts and bolts of the upcoming ride, and our communications team is rounding up some great media coverage and contacts
- We’re rolling out presentations in a number of schools as we begin the youth engagement portion of our goals
- We’re signing up dozens (soon to be hundreds?) of riders to collect pledges on behalf of AOC when they come out to join us for mass rides along the way, or just for stretches of the route
- And much, much more
Appreciate all your comments and support! Be in touch soon,
Shawn
