California Here We Come

Just a quick note from the side of the road, literally! We’re stopped for lunch about 20 kilometres short of Port Orford, Oregon having lunch in a library parking lot and lo and behold - internet! Just thought we’d say a quick hello and let everyone know we’re doing well. We’ve been churning through Oregon on our new legs of steel and only have two days until we’re into California.

The whole group is feeling the burn a bit, not so much from long individual days but just the cumulative effect of “cycle-eat-cycle-eat-meeting-sleep-repeat.” Spirits are high, and we’re still talking to SO many amazing people - the support from random people we encounter along the route is amazing and one great conversation in a coffee shop is often enough to give me that boost of energy needed for the rest of the day. The crew I’ve been riding with has been having espresso and Sudoku puzzle breaks every afternoon and one of the highlights is definitely having a chance to bond with such an amazing group of people.

Unfortunately no photos on this comp at the moment but you’ll have to take our word for it that the Oregon coast has been STUNNING. Rolling hills, beautiful forested campsites, massive dunes, rocky shores and wildlife - amazing to be able to take it in at the slower pace of cycling.

Going to be left behind here as the last of the crew sets out for the night’s accomodation but will be in touch soon. Much love to all!

What an amazing group of hard working travellers cycling for a great cause. You guys and gals are a true inspiration for the rest of us. California here we come. You make us proud. I sometimes wonder if the average sole can comprehend what courage it takes to be able to travel to Mexico on a bicycle in only 5 weeks. Miss you all - good fortune for the duration.
