Second Annual Microcredit Challenge – Nov 17-23, 2008
As part of Entrepreneurship Week Canada, the second annual Microcredit Challenge took place November 17-23, 2008. Global AFC funded competing teams of 2 to 5 university students with $100 “microloans.” Teams had one week to use their entrepreneurial skills to raise as much money and create as much social change as possible using only this original loan. The University of British Columbia ended up raising $500 to go towards their student run microcredit fund.

Changemakers Night Out and Muhammad Yunus Talk – Mar 14, 2008
A gathering of 50 of our closest friends for some inspiration and discussion at Mahoneys Pub on UBC campus, before heading over to hear the sold-out talk of Nobel Laureate and AOC hero Muhammad Yunus. We were also invited to present him with a plaque and honorary title of “Global Agent for Change” at a ceremony the evening before, as well as taking apart in events associated with his visit throughout the day.
