How to Help!
How to help us out and become a Global Agent for Change!
We have been getting a ton of positive feedback about our trips and people keep asking how they can help so we have included relevant information here to make it easier. The position below is for someone with 5+ hours a week, but many of the ways to help are fairly simple.
**Country Coordinators
We are looking for Country/Region coordinators, with 5 hours a week or so to help out leading up to the tours with translation, contacting local municipalities and organizations, and advising on local information. This role is to act as an in country/state/region contact. We hope to find people in:
EUROPE:
Holland, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey
US:
Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California.
* Please see our two current routes at the bottom of this page to see if you or someone you know might be excited about what we’re up to!
Even is just in your town, we could really use assistance with a few basic things:
Food – If you wanted to help make a big communal meal or potluck, or know of local grocery stores that may donate, we would be very grateful. You may even discover the answer to the age-old question of “what is the fastest way to a riders heart”.
Accommodation – One of the hardest things for us to plan is where we are going to stay each night. As the one of goals of the trip is to put all of the money we raise towards microcredit, we rely entirely on the kindness of strangers to put us up for a night or two. We really do not require much, simply somewhere safe. Gyms, Churches, and backyards all make for excellent accommodation. We have also found that some of the best experiences on the trip come from the people who are kind enough to put up with our snoring for a night.
Route Planning – This isn’t a big concern for the Pacific trip, but we need some of help figuring out our route for Europe. The countries we need help with are: The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Bulgaria and Turkey stand out especially.
Amsterdam Specific – We need help finding the following in or near Amsterdam:
- a meeting space suitable for 2 days of orientation meetings
- a passenger van for purchase in or around Amsterdam, and advice on securing vehicle insurance for our journey.
- bike repair equipment and basic supplies
- camping equipment and basic supplies
- 2 nights accommodation (a free, safe space to roll out sleeping mats)
Everything Else – If you know of an organization, person or place that we just have to connect with please let us know. We promise our enthusiasm is highly contagious and would love nothing more than to meet more great people along the way.
We are also big fans of anyone who wants to come out and cheer us along or ride for a stretch. Here are our two routes, dates subject to small changes:
